The Ultimate Megavalanche Route Topic

Calling all stations, calling all stations. Especially those at Pic Blanc (cam1) and Oz en Oisans (cam2). Time to create the ultimate Mega-Route-Topic.

I know I’m not the only one who’s been strolling around the internet looking for details of the Megavalanche route, because my admin site shows that ‘route Megavalanche’ is the number one referring search term to this blog.

Information about the route is not the easiest to find but with a few maps, a GPS-track, an amazingly cool video from Dirt TV you’ll come a long way.

Here’s a clear overview of the route, marked EN1. plan-pistes-vtt-oz-alpe-huez-grand-domaine copy

To get a bit more detail in: we know what’s supposed to be the most technical section.  And this post on Pinkbike gives a good impression of the switchbacks you can expect. As for the Qualifier, here are some great photos. And of course there is this earlier topic.

There’s also this video of Dirt TV that shows some awesome riding and the carnage factor of the Mega, as well as the area itself.

It would be great if we could turn this post into the ultimate Mega Route Topic, especially for all us beginners and newbies out here. So if you got some great maps, track profile, pictures, videos or other material, let me know and I’ll include it.

Ride on!
